The basic principle of suction filter element

1.what is aerosol

During the process of absorbing liquid, the disturbance of the liquid, including flow, splash, hanging on the wall, blowing out the residual liquid, etc., will generate aerosol. Aerosol is a colloidal dispersion system formed by dispersing and suspending small solid or liquid particles in a gas medium. The size of solid and liquid small particles is 0.001-100 μm, including droplets, bacteria, viruses, mycoplasma, DNA, RNA, ultra-trace molecules , such as small fragments of DNA <100bp, some special reagent molecules, etc. The aerosol enters the pipette along the channel formed by the negative pressure, and finally diffuses through two ways. The first is that when the next sample is sucked, it enters the next sample, which is usually called sample cross-contamination; the second is that it diffuses into the air, which will adversely affect the operator when the sample is a dangerous sample, such as when drawing Ebola with HIV samples or radioactive samples.

2.Hydrophobic interaction

Hydrophobic interaction (hydrophobic interaction) is also called hydrophobic interaction. A weak, noncovalent interaction between nonpolar molecules
use. Hydrophobic interactions can have a length of about 100 nanometers, whereas other molecular forces are only about 5 nanometers at most.
The size of the hydrophobic interaction is related to the material, and also related to the size of the pores and the surface area. The smaller the pore size, the larger the surface area and the better the barrier effect.
The double-layer filter element is designed using the principle of different pore sizes and different barrier effects.

3.Activated carbon adsorption

Activated carbon adsorption Activated carbon is a porous carbon-containing substance, which has a highly developed pore structure. The porous structure of activated carbon provides it with a large surface area, which can fully contact with gas (impurity), thus endowing the unique characteristics of activated carbon. The adsorption performance makes it very easy to achieve the purpose of absorbing and collecting impurities. The best adsorption effect can only be achieved when the pore structure of activated carbon is slightly larger than the diameter of harmful gas (impurity) molecules, allowing them to fully enter (not too large or too small).
